Danielle Wood's first novel, The Alphabet of Light and Dark, won a number of prizes, including the prestigious Vogel Literary Prize. Her second book, Rosie Little's Cautionary Tales for Girls, is shortly to be published in the United States and translated into Italian. In 2004, Danielle was named one of Australia's best young novelists. Danielle lectures in creative writing at the University of Tasmania and lives with her husband John, her daughter Xanthe, her greeting-card-model dog Axel and a motley collection of chooks and sheep. Her next goal in life is to become an ace pool player. On a good day, she believes six impossible things before breakfast.

Tony is a former body-builder who arrived in Australia from Ireland in 1960 and worked at a fitness centre. His idea to run from Sydney to Melbourne was actually a promotions idea for the centre, but it marked the start of his running career. Tony has many ‘first runs’ to his name – including Melbourne to Sydney 1972, Fremantle to Surfers Paradise, Perth to Brisbane and the ‘impossible’ run through Death Valley in California in 1979. Now in his 60s Tony excels as a motivator and draws on his experiences to teach and encourage others, not only in sports, but also in life generally. He also holds several State weightlifting records and is the Australian junior record holder for the dead lift of 267.5 kilograms. He’s just 20 and stands at six foot five and weighs in at over 140 kilos.
